Since it's already Spring in many places where our members are, I thought it might be a nice time to show you some flowers from Sherlock Holmes. Actually, both flowers are named after our favorite detective.

This first one is a hybrid that is primarily European in origin and is named "PrimulaXSherlock Holmes."
Here's a link with a bit more information.

This one is a rose (simply named Sherlock Holmes) that has been developed in the USA and should be available for purchase late this summer. I'm posting a link to more information about this rose, so everyone can see if it will grow in their climate area. From what I've read, it's going to be a fairly rare rose and I plan to be first in line to order a couple of bushes. It's too bad we can't post a fragrance over the internet, but I guess we can all wait until we have a bush growing in our own yard. :D

Melenda, you must have wonderful gardens. You always find the beautiful flowers.

They are both beautiful; but the second is my favorite. Do you think it will grow in south GA?

If you check the map that's on the link it should be just fine there. It looks like it might be cold hardy enough to go as far north as Indiana, but the site says there will be more information out before they actually start selling them. :D

Ooh, I'm planning my gardens now, also. Been pruning rose bushes all evening, and now ruing that I didn't use gloves :( Hurrah, I just squeak into the hardiness zone 5 for the Sherlock Holmes rose! *crosses fingers* Might have to try that one.

Thanks for sharing, Melinda!

Ooooo, Melinda...thank you!
Both of these will somehow find their way into my yard/gardens this year.
The first one is a kind of primrose, in a really beautiful shade, and of course the rose is scrumptious!

Question - do you think that they will put one of the beautiful flowers that Melinda found around the tree that was planted for Jeremy in Clapham Common?????? Wish we could.
